ST Approach to Sustainability


We were one of the first companies to sign the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2000. We support and promote the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights and all other major international human rights standards, including the core conventions of the International Labor Organization.

As a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) we participate in the collective efforts of the industry to find solutions to our biggest sustainability challenges, such as conflict minerals, working conditions, environmental protection and health & safety. Our Corporate Labor and Human Rights procedure sets the framework for deploying ST’s Labor and Human Rights practices throughout the company

We annually disclose details of our sustainability performance and objectives in our Sustainability Reports.

Managing the environmental impact associated with our industrial process and products is an integral part of our culture, and we believe it contributes to the long-term success of our business. Our Environmental Policy and procedures describe how our manufacturing operations manage pollution prevention, reduce consumption of natural resources, reduce waste, and minimize our impacts. The Policy is in line with international and local regulations, incorporating best practice principles from the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), as well as the ISO 14001 and 50001 international standards.

Our Environmental, Health and Safety Decalogue (2014-2020) sets operational targets to improve ST's health, safety, eco-design and environmental performance.
