The detection of human presence is becoming an important and even compelling requirement in a growing number of applications. From computer peripherals, personal electronics, and domestic appliances to building access management, healthcare, and security systems, today's applications must be able to ensure a seamless interactions of users with the systems and the services associated.
ST human presence detection sensors are based on ST's long-distance FlightSense™ Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging sensors which enable actual distance measurements to the nearest millimeter, independently of surface reflectivity unlike traditional infrared (IR) sensors. Our human sensing portfolio also includes TMOS thermal sensing technologies. These two technologies complement each other and enable accurate presence detection for close vicinities up to several meters.
Thanks to our innovative power-saving techniques, our sensors can help design even the most power-sensitive, battery-operated presence sensing systems.
In addition to a wide range of power management solutions and STM32 microcontrollers, we provide a comprehensive set of evaluation and development tools, including software libraries to help engineers build a wide variety of proximity sensing building blocks.
